11 Apr 10 - 11:03 AM (#2884236) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Bluesman James I remember reading this old Guitar Player interview with the Late Jon Martyn and he went on and on about the wonderful 12 string guitar Bridget St. John had but he never discussed her and/or her music. |

It's at the Park Golf Club, just round from the Promenade. The Jumblequeen and Fully Qualified Survivor, together on one bill is something not to be missed. |

19 Apr 10 - 06:04 PM (#2890142) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Clive Pownceby In answer to Chris B, last poster, I can state categorically, no. |

20 Apr 10 - 10:47 AM (#2890629) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: pavane I seem to remember being pressed into dropping her home in my ancient Ford Consul after a gig at our college folk club, must have been 1968/9. But I can't remember anything about the gig. |

20 Apr 10 - 07:01 PM (#2890947) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: LesB I remember Bridget performing at a financially disasterous rock festival at Rugby in 1969, offering (from the stage) a return ticket to London to anyone who wanted it, because she had a lift lined up. Incidentally this fest had an amazing line up.... Genisis, Supertramp, Free, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Strawbs, Edgar Broughton Band, John Dummers Blues Band & lots more inc The New Modern Idiot Grunt Band. Cheers Les |

22 Apr 10 - 09:22 AM (#2892031) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Chris B (Born Again Scouser) Categorically? Why categorically? What's that supposed to mean? Is the former treasurer of the Liverpool Irish Festival offended at the notion that an English folk singer might be related to the composer of one of the most popular modern Irish standards of recent years? Get over yourself, Clive. I've still got a digital photo of you jogging down Woodville Avenue. What's more, I'm not afraid to use it. Still got the shorts? |
22 Apr 10 - 09:35 AM (#2892037) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Chris B (Born Again Scouser) Is she not related to Ian St John, either? |
22 Apr 10 - 09:39 AM (#2892043) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Clive Pownceby Simply because Chris B, when you posed the question, I asked her. My jogging shorts are free to be displayed anywhere and at any time! My knees have seen the world! |
22 Apr 10 - 09:44 AM (#2892044) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Chris B (Born Again Scouser) Would that it were only your knees.... |
22 Apr 10 - 09:53 AM (#2892050) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Chris B (Born Again Scouser) Actually, Clive, I'm just jealous that I can't go. I used to love Michael Chapman's records back in the early 70's. Could be a bit of a grumpy bugger live but a great guitar player. Started to look a bit like Jimmy Greaves as he got older. Don't remember much about Bridget. As it happens, I named my daughter Bridget but there's no connection there either. There you go. Now you've got your poster: 'An Evening With Saint And Greavesy'. Have a great evening. I'm sure it'll be terrific. |
23 Apr 10 - 04:16 AM (#2892581) Subject: RE: Bridget St John and Michael Chapman From: GUEST,Clive Pownceby Last evening = one of the best nights I've had in a Folk Club in many a while. Do catch 'em if you can on this tour. You won't regret it. Bridget's vocals are as emotive as ever and Michael's dry wit and 'how-does-he-do-that?' guitar, truly memorable. An inspiring performance - thanks you two. Onwards and upwards - literally - the Isle Of Bute tonight. |
