Folk Club at Donnington Manor House

If there are any Mudcatters in Leicestershire, we're trying to save a folk club that has been running at the Donnington Le Heath Manor House near Coalville. Attendance hasn't been great and if we don't get at least 30 people attending this time, it will be the last one.

If you've in the area and have £5 to spare, please come along. There is a licenced bar and absolutely fabulous cakes for purchase as well. The gentleman who has been running the show is Steve Bentley, who I believe you can contact through Facebook if you are that way inclined.

It's April 16th at the Classics Cafe at the Donnington le Heath Manor House. The performers this week will be Emma and the Professor as can be seen on a video from the 2007 Shrewsbury Folk Festival: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBkzomWO7Vc

Sorry this is short notice, I haven't used or thought about the Mudcat in ages (my dad is Naemanson of the Guam saga and a longtime Mudcatter.)

Hope to see you there!

What is the time and how about a post code for those with sat navs.
If we can we will come this week, good luck I do hope that you can keep it running, we need every event that we can

Sorry! I'm not in charge of running it, just thought I'd post here in case we might get a few more people....don't know if the man in charge even knows about or uses the Mudcat! I only went to the club for the first time last month!

The post code is LE67 2FW. Show starts at 8pm.

Hopefully see you there.

I think that OldNicKilby's complaint wasn't that the organiser doesn't know about Mudcat but that he doesn't seem to know about the Leicester Folk Diary.

Ah, right. Well, I didn't know about it either.

Will fix that. :)

This is the Folk Diary. As a resident of Leics like Nick, I was unaware of the clubs existence. This is the local page - contact Pete Burnham.

... It's essential to publicise your club and Pete Burnham's page and Folkwaves I would say are essential.

Don't abandon your club until you've tried advertising properly.

To find where to publicise your folk event the best starting place is always this site.

Thanks all!

I will pass all this on to the man in charge. As I said, I only went to the club for the first time last month and don't know what, if any advertising has been done. I've not really been much into the folk scene here in England, though used to go to quite a few concerts and clubs with my Dad in the states when I was younger. I just happened to be invited along to this one in Donnington by a friend and thought it was great and would be sad if it crumpled due to lack of interest.

Anyway, thanks for the advice and websites, I will pass it all on.
