BS: Lilacs turning brown!!

Hi all! My lilacs have bloomed so beautifully but they are turning brown from the middle of the blossoms. They've been out only a few days so I know something is wrong. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience about this? (I'm in Washington state USA so they're well watered by nature) Thanks for any suggestions,
Margo

HI Margo, check with your county extension agent. I don't know about the northwest. Here in the southeast, Lilacs are more prone to problems in wet, warm, humid conditions than in cooler, drier conditions. I wonder about a blight or other fungal disease.

Have you inspected the blooms with a magnifying glass to look for critters? Any other symptoms of problems on the leaves or bark? Hollow stems?

We get a lot of rain as a rule here in the northwest. I am going to take your suggestion and contact the county extension agent. *Sigh* that's one more item on the arm length to do list!
Thanks,
Margo
