Haul away your anchor. Haul away your anchor. 'Tis our sailing time. Get some sail upon her. Haul away your halyards. Haul away your halyards. 'Tis our sailing time. Get her on her course now. Haul away your foresheets. Haul away your foresheets. 'Tis our sailing time. Waves are breaking under. Haul away down-channel. Haul away down-channel. On the evening tide. When my time is over. Haul away for Heaven. Haul away for Heaven. God be at my side. Usually attributed to Mervyn Vincent but apparently only popularised by him in the 60s. See the Digital Tradition and threads on the song for more detail. Andrew |

From: Crane Driver Actually, these look like being versions of the same song, at least they would fit to the same tune. 'Doc tom' said this in a recent thread here: Tony, of course, was very much part of the south-west singing tradition and would most probably have sung the version popularised by Mervyn, and by Johnny Collins at so many shanty festivals.
