New song - olddude (Lights on the Sea)

Couldn't sleep last night, I wrote this one
"I saw the lights on the sea"

Lights on the Sea - oldude

Lights on the Sea
by Dan O'Connell

I saw the lights on the sea
We were dancing to music it's just you and me
I can see the waves, I can feel the wind
Our bodies softly moving to the sound that lies within
I can feel my heart, it's beating like a drum
In the quiet of the moment when our bodies move as one

I saw the lights on the sea
reflections of star light in the warm summer breeze
I can hear your voice, whisper in my ear
shades of darkness falling and I'm so glad we're here

I saw the lights on the sea

Chorus
Every night it's the same old dream I'm taken to that place
The warm sand on our feet and locked in our embrace
Dancing to the music of the wind and rolling waves
The star light off the ocean, reflecting on her face

I saw the lights on the sea
No one around us it's just you and me
I can feel your warmth, Your softly flowing hair
your gentle hands upon me
in the warm and salty air

I saw the lights on the sea

Chorus

Listening now, Dan. Such a lovely, gentle tune and lyric! Sometimes it's worth not sleeping when a sweet new song emerges instead.

Thank you my friends. I had the melody running in my head for weeks, figured it was time to put some words to it ...

Yes; they fit one another well. Thanks for letting us hear it, Dan.

Why you old romantic! I wish I could write such stuff, I'd be glad to sacrifice some sleep! I was awake from 2 to 4 am last night wondering why my old car won't run right. Wanna swap?

This one's a winner, right out of the gate, Dan. I'm not gonna make any of my nitpickin' comments at all. If you have any notion of polishing it any, do so very, very gently; if you mess it up, I'll come after ya!

LOL thank you Dean, it was my first take at recording it since it is so new, I am just going to fix up my phasing a bit but I am happy with the lyrics ... Thank you my friend

Dan, I noticed a couple of places where you sing the words slightly differently than what you've posted. Please let me know if you want me to change them. Here's what I noticed..what you actually sang is in red (unless I'm goin' deef!*bg*):

I saw the lights on the sea we were dancing to music it's just you and me
I can see the waves, I can feel the wind
Our bodies softly moving to the sound that lies within
I can feel my heart, it's beating like a drum
In the quiet of the moment (when) our bodies move as one

Chorus
Every night it's the same old dream I'm taken to that place
The warm sand on our feet and locked in our embrace
Dancing to the music of the wind and rolling waves
The star light off the ocean, reflects (reflecting on) upon her face

I am loving this even more with each listen!

Kat
yes please change. I have a bad habit of changing the lyrics as I sing them, Probably because I scribble, post them on my wall and try to read them as I play LOL ... on a new song I don't know the words without reading and then I get caught up in playing and have to improvise ... I kinda like how it came out so I think I will make the words = the song

Thanks so much
Dan

this song makes me feel nostalgic. about 15 years young and wandering along a beach hand in hand with someone special. moonlight reflecting on the water, salty breeze rustling my hair, warm sand between my toes.

sigh.

Best wises,

Great song, Dan! Romantic moments against a well-painted portrait of the sea.How refreshing to have an up-lifting theme as opposed to the angst and pessimism expressed in too many songs(IMO).
