This is an extensive site with lots to explore, but I thought the Western Slang, Lingo, & Phrases part might be of esp. interest here. I notice they do not list a "hoolihan.":-)

Enjoy,

kat

A Thread devoted to Western word and phrase dictionaries was needed.

The Legends of America site is interesting, but not wholly reliable.
These are the ones which are more authoritative (linked in other threads, but not as lists- dictionaries:

Ramon F. Adams, 1944, Western Words: A Ditionary of the Range, Cow Camp and Trail, University of Oklahoma Press. (Reprints)

Donald Chavez y Gilbert, pdf book, Cowboys- Vaqueros: Origins of the First American Cowboys Chap. Eleven, "Vaquero/Cowboy Lingo."
http://www.nmhcpl.org/COWBOY.html
(Many other interesting items in this book, and at other links at this site, "New Mexican Hispanic Culture Preservation League").

Jules Verne Allen, 1933, Cowboy Lore Includes "Cowboy Dictionary;" "Brands and Customs." (Reprints)

Other lists?

The 'Cowboy Alphabet' thread linked by Open Mike is interesting, but poor on definitions- lists without definitions, some lyrics, etc. which are of little help.
