This one's for you, Max and Bobert: The American Folklife Center via Facebook says, "Today is Ma Rainey's Birthday (4/26/1886)! Often known as the "Mother of the Blues," Rainey recorded such songs as "Bo-Weevil Blues," "Moonshine Blues," and "Yonder Comes the Blues" with Louis Armstrong. In celebration of Ma Rainey, here's one of the many blues recordings at AFC: Greyhound Blues"

GAWD! Some weird cosmic shit going on.

Today during lunch I was listening to my Encyclopedia of Early Blues Classics CD #2 and really picked up on Ma Rainey's Sleep Talkin Blues.

Been googling for lyrics this evening and can't find em.

Too too bizarre.

I mean the serendipity of this thread on the day I discovered her.

Why isn't there more about Ma Rainey (Gertrude Prigdett) on the mudcat?

But she was known as the Mother of Blues, Terry.

Sleep Talkin blues doesn't sound very jazz to me.
