13 May 10 - 10:50 PM (#2906505) Subject: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Dan Schatz Nick Apollonio now has a public page up on Facebook with pictures of his instruments, contact info, some sound samples, etc. I'm helping him put this together and am looking for pictures of as many of his instruments as possible - both the instruments themselves and people playing them. If you have such pictures, pm me and I'll send you my e-mail address. The official title of the page is: Apollo Stringed Instruments - Nikos Apollonio, luthier. You do not need to be a Facebook member to look at this page. Dan |
14 May 10 - 01:38 AM (#2906553) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: GUEST People keep saying this about Facebook, but I am not registered at Facebook, and when I follow this link, I get the message "You must log in to see this page." Be aware, Dan, you _do_ need to be a Facebook member to view this page. |
14 May 10 - 03:21 AM (#2906574) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Dan Schatz Then I've done the link wrong. I'll try to fix it in the morning. Sorry about that. Dan |

14 May 10 - 11:42 AM (#2906865) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: SINSULL Nick joined us for a house concert and arrived with a carful of instruments. He left with far fewer. Beautiful work. I believe he is custom building a guitar for a 'Catter as we speak. SINS |
14 May 10 - 11:43 AM (#2906866) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Dan Schatz The link works for me even when I'm not logged into Facebook, and we're set for worldwide accessibility. Here's another try, just for chuckles. I'm not sure what's going on with GUEST, but it may be worth another try. Dan |
14 May 10 - 12:50 PM (#2906914) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: John MacKenzie I will endeavour to get a pic of myself playing my lovely Apollonio, which I will send to you for your rogue's gallery Dan. |
14 May 10 - 12:55 PM (#2906920) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Midchuck I got to play Kendall's 12 when I was up there last, and almost wish I hadn't. It destroyed any interest I might have had in any other brand of 12-string. Peter |
14 May 10 - 01:22 PM (#2906939) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Jeri I got to play Kendall's 12-string, Nick's 5-stringed fiddle, Maeve's 6 string, John's 6 and Nick's 6, which I bought. He left with it that night though, as he didn't have another and he had gigs. Now it has a little 'owie' that I should probably get fixed. I'd love to see Gordon's new 12-string in real life. |
14 May 10 - 02:27 PM (#2906979) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Dan Schatz I've played Gordon's new 12 string. It's sublime. Peter, Nick's prices are so reasonable that you really don't have to worry about being tempted by other brands. Nick's would be a bargain at 3 times the price. Dan |
14 May 10 - 03:35 PM (#2907010) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Anglo Dan, the link on the second try did work for me. Thanks. |
14 May 10 - 04:06 PM (#2907030) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Dan Schatz Facebook's a funny old thing. Good on you for avoiding the hype. I'm just happy that Nick now has a web presence. Dan |
14 May 10 - 04:33 PM (#2907048) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: EBarnacle Last year, Nick brought a couple of instruments to Old Songs. Lady Hillary sat down with them and, on the 12 string, was immediately playing far above her normal capability. If he comes this year, we will probably end up taking one home. |
14 May 10 - 05:38 PM (#2907090) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: GUEST,Julia L Hi Dan- Fred Gosbee (Castlebay) plays one of Nick's 12-strings in all our concerts and recordings. We have some nice pix plus some mp3's if you want them. contact me at julia@castlebay.net (I can't pm you because I am not a member) By the way, Fred engineered and produced the tracks used on Nik's site. Thanks for getting him organized cheers- Julia |
14 May 10 - 06:31 PM (#2907134) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: dick greenhaus I've been playing--and hugely enjoying--one of Nick's parlor guitars for the past ten years (how time flies!). Lovely little guitar with a lovely big sound. |
14 May 10 - 07:16 PM (#2907162) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: kendall This man should be world famous. By the way, Gordon played his new 12 string in my living room recently and I must admit it is the best sounding 12 string ever. Of course, in his hands, a Harmony sounded great 50 years ago. |

19 May 10 - 04:39 PM (#2910118) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: GUEST,leeneia I clicked on the link in the first post, and I too got a message that I needed to log in to see the page. I signed up for Facebook and signed out 15 minutes later. Right after that I started receiving ads for Viagra and fake notices from DHL and UPS about phantom packages. Why is the page on Facebook? |
19 May 10 - 06:01 PM (#2910170) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Dan Schatz The siteis on Facebook mainly because it's quick and easy. Hopefully there will be a true web page in the future. I didn't publish my e-mail address on Facebook for just that reason. Dan |
20 May 10 - 12:14 AM (#2910343) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: dick greenhaus Dan- You didn't tell folks how to post their photos, either. |
20 May 10 - 12:54 AM (#2910353) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Jeri It's like attaching any photo on someone's wall in Facebook. You go to the message box and type a message if you want. Click on 'Attach' in that box and selecty 'Photo", then tell it where the photo is on your hard drive. |
23 Sep 10 - 11:48 AM (#2992296) Subject: RE: Nick Apollonio instruments Facebook Page From: Dan Schatz There's a bunch of new photos up on the Facebook Page. You can also post reviews of Nick's instruments. Including some details of the prettiest cittern I've ever seen. If it sounds as good as it looks, which is likely, then it is a remarkable instrument indeed. Dan |
