2010 Mystic Festival--Sharing Expenses

I'm looking for one or more people to share a hotel room up in Mystic for the 2010 Sea Music Festival . (And I wouldn't mind sharing travel expenses, too.) I live in Wheaton, MD.

Uh, are you male or female? I might share a room with another woman. I couldn't share travel expenses. I live "next door" in RI, but even that daily drive is becoming a drag.

Motels in Groton or New London are much cheaper than Mystic and not very far away.

<> And I gave that message some thought. Oh well. I'm male.

Both Groton and New London are a bit beyond walking distance. At least for me.

Sorry 'bout the blank message above. Definite OOPS. Sorry the sharing won't work for us, too. Hope you find someone. The Groton/New London advice is true: rooms there may cost less, and most rooms in Mystic may already be booked. Also, the Sea Music Symposiums will be held in Groton. If you aren't bringing your own wheels, maybe you'll share with someone who does, as I will since I plan to drive in Thursday and home Sunday night. If anyone has specific Groton/New London hotels (clean, safe, quiet) in mind, maybe that person could start another thread about that. I've never stayed overnight and would welcome suggestions.

@Janet: Thanks for the "heads up" on the Sea Music Symposiums at UoC . The last time I attended everything was in Mystic.

This is looking more and more problematic by the day.

Tired of me yet?

I've just booked a room at the Groton Super 8 Motel. If you book a room in Groton, I could drive you back and forth. There are still rooms in Mystic, but they do in fact cost more. A room at Groton's EconoLodge would cost less than mine at the Super 8. I'll get to the reason for my slightly more expensive choice soon. Since it sounds like you won't have a car, if you book in Groton I can drive you to and from the Seaport. We could meet at Thursday night's concert if you arrive by train or bus. If you fly to Providence (really Warwick), I can drive you to Mystic or Groton IF I can arrive at my hotel to check in by 3 PM on Thursday. That means a delay in your flight could be a problem. I could also drive you back to the RI airport after Sunday's concert. If you fly into Hartford, though, I can't help you. Oh, the reason I chose the more expensive hotel is that my room has two beds. Maybe I'll find a woman to share with! I think the EconoLodge showed only one bed in the rooms still available.

Certainly not. You have been kind and helpful and thorough.

Unfortunately this is turning out to be more expensive then I'd hoped. I'm afraid I'm going to have to miss it this year.

But your efforts should not go unrewarded. If you're ever down around the DC or Baltimore area -- say for the FSGW Getaway -- let me know and perhaps I can help you out.
