The 2nd Larkin Hedge School, a festival of Irish music song, poetry dance, drama and journalism takes place in Dublin on June 11th and 12th.
Full details on www.cleclub.wetpaint.com. Great programme this year ranging from music of Seamus Ennis and a tribute to the work of Chief O Neill to set dance, sean nós dancing, a concert by the wonderful Mary McPartlan at the Goilín Singers Club. Performances by Peter Browne, Gerry O'Connor, Neilidh Mulligan. Worth a look (special hotel deal from trade union recognised hotels).

Anyone interested in booking in for the Fiddle Masterclass at the Larkin Hedge School should do so quickly as places are limited.

Masterclass will be conducted by founding member of Skylark, Gerry O'Connor. Its at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday 12 June at the Liberty Hall Centre for Performing Arts, is priced at a recession friendly €10, and best suited to adult students of at least two years' experience.   

Gerry recorded four albums with Skylark and toured Europe with the band for 10 years. He's produced a number of solo, live and collaborative albums. He currently teaches music at Dundalk Institute of Technology. Book via www.cleclub.wetpaint.com , email cleclub@gmail.com.

There is a very comprehensive programme including workshops, concerts, poetry, dancing and drama.

8.30-11.30pm: Writers In Song
Acclaimed singer Barry
Gleeson salutes the capital's literary culture with
his unique interpretation of Dublin songs, featuring
the work of Joyce, O'Casey, Kavanagh and some
forgotten bards of yesterday.
Friday, May 6th
Venue: Teachers' Club,
36 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1
7pm: Opening address by Galway poet Michael D Higgins.
7.30-9.30pm: City of Words
Dubliner Gerard Smyth weaves a poetic tapestry,
drawing on the people, places and personal experience
of his native city. Interwoven with music by Gerry
O'Connor, Martin Quinn and Gabriel McArdle
from their new album, Jig Away the Donkey.
10-closing: An Góilín Singers Club
Internationally acclaimed singer Niamh Parsons is
the special guest at the renowned Góilín Singers Club.

A journey through the rich traditions of May
A musical spectacle reecting the history of May Day,
from its ancient roots to the origins of the modern

Special guest: Tommy Sands
The legendary bard of Co Down leads an informal
singing session drawing from the international archive
of labour and protest songs.
3.45-5.30pm: The music of Pádraig Ó Caoimh
Lecture: Peter Browne
RTÉ broadcaster and piper Peter Browne once again
delves into the archives to bring the famed Munster
ddler to life with recordings and anecdotes.
7.15: A toast to May – Wine reception
7.45-9pm: Song for the Green Crow
With Aisteoirí Chrónáin
A bouquet of music, song and drama commemorating
the contribution to the Irish literary tradition of Sean
O'Casey arranged and presented by Des Geraghty,
Jack Plunkett, Noel O'Grady, Noel Pocock,
Sally Corr, Jonny Tennant and Aisteoirí
Chrónáin's Brendan Kennedy and Eimear Simms.
9.15pm: The Liberty Session
Closing concert featuring The People's College
Choir, Cathal McConnell, who is joined by his
brothers from the famed singing family, Cormac,
