Dublin Sessions

An Irish mate of mine has just returned to Dublin from working overseas for a long period and has lost touch with the music scene.
He's looking for small friendly sessions where there is good opportunity to sing and play a variety of Folk music in a nice session atmosphere. Any Ideas ?

If he wants to sing he should come to the Góilín Singers Club on friday night 9.30 in the Teachers' Club, Parnell Square. If he wants to sing and play music he might try the Clé Club on Wednesday nights 8.30 Liberty Hall. If he wants trad sessions he might try Saturday night about 10 in Hughes Pub behind the Four Courts.

If your friebinnd wants an introduction to Dublin the Larkin Hedge School on June 11 and 12 would be ideal...singing, dancing, music, lectures and humour. And a chance to meet a good cross section of people from the trad/folk scene in Dublin. Details: www.cleclub.wetpaint.com

Thanks Fergie and Seamus ( Seamus I haven't figured out how to do the accent onthe "e").
He and his missus will just want a a "steady away" night, and ( by the way) it wouldn't make him unique, but would he be able to get a gargle in the Larkin Hedge School ?

Your friend and his partner can be assured of many a gargle at the hedge school. They serve lovely pints at the bar in Liberty Hall. (as they do in the Teachers' Club).

If you need to put a fada (accent) over a letter, hold down the (Ctrl) and (Alt) keys together, then press the letter that you need the accent over and, hey presto you will achieve a fada over the letter. As in Hello Séamus, I'll see you in the Clé Club on Wednesday.

Yes indeed.

There will be food and drink a plenty on Saturday in Liberty Hall.
On the Friday night Fergus and his friends tend to dine out on the finest Guinness in the Teachers' club. If your friends do come along make sure they introduce themselves.

Just home from the Clé Club. What a night. Laoise Kelly played her harp and I was transported, I was blown away. Without doubt she was the best harpist I've ever heard. She got more notes out of that harp than there were strings on it. It was the best €5 I ever spent. Well done to Séamus for his input.
