I am trying to update my current list of folk clubs, sessions, singarounds and such like in the Greater Manchester area. If you know of any currently alive and kicking can you post details here? I am happy for Greater Manchester to be decided by yourselves Cheers L in C# |

Not strictly speaking Greater Manchester but who is speaking strictly? All the Mancunians are either at festivals, trying to decide if they are in Greater Manchester or only use Mudcat at work. 30 May 10 - 01:05 PM (#2917256) Subject: RE: Review: Folk Clubs etc. current in Manchester From: GUEST,SophFFS Hello there I'm not sure For Folk's Sake could be classed as a folk club, but we programme a monthly night of folk music in Manchester city centre. At present we are rather nomadic - we've been at The Bay Horse in the NQ, the Zion Arts Centre, Eighth Day Cafe and Contact Theatre so far this year, and we've got KroBar (for Twelfth Day's album launch) on June 30th before travelling down to London's The Magpie's Nest in July. However, we're hoping to have a permanent home from September onwards, so I can let you know for definite nearer the time. In the meantime, please check out http://www.forfolkssake.org.uk/ for more info on our past nights. Thanks! Sophie |

I'm no bigot on the folk thing, well I probably am in that our sessions at The Beech - currently at The Horse and Jockey - are tagged mostly but not exclusively traditional songs and tunes. I will promote most folkish things through our facebook: Songs and tunes at The Beech but our own sessions are mostly as it says Cheers L in C# |
