Jones - lde_jones@centuryinter.net From many years ago camping I vaguely remember a ballad about a hound dog named Blue - one line was something like "Are you walking these hills tonight Blue?" Does anyone know the song - and where I might find it? |

Chorus: E A E A B7 E Blue Walkin'. Blue Walkin'. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Floppy ears and a draggin' tail, a heart's that faithful and true. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Through these woods we used to roam, huntin' was all we'd do. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Then one day you went away, I wish that I knew why. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? Master I hear you callin'. Callin' me back to you. Are you walking these hills tonight, Blue? |

The song was written by Camp counselors after observing Blue after the death of the Ranger. It is a true story. I knew one of the Counselors that was involved in writing the song. |

18 Aug 15 - 08:41 PM (#3731288) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Blue Walkin' (camp song) From: GUEST,Guest Ella Jenkins did a rendition of this song on the children's album "Seasons for Singing." It is a bit shorter than some of the versions posted here, which is why I was looking it up in the first place. It is such a lovely little song that I hoped I could find a few more verses. I was very pleased to find a few here. Hope this helps some one else :-) Url of video of Jenkins' Recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVQztrSva6U |

Probably because it's a blue tick hound. These dogs tree their prey and then howl. Here's a video of a pup who has spotted, if not actually treed, a prey animal. Clearly the prey animal just wishes it would shut up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_--x0b9fiUY |
