From: Boho My guitar teacher is teaching me something that he says is called Corn Cob Blues, that he learnt from a guy in a guitar shop. It doesn't appear to be the John Hartford bluegrass tune of the same name and all I can find via Google is a reference in a book called The Bluegrass Reader of which I can only view this snippet: "Corn Cob Blues" (Harry Ace 345-A, recorded 1947) This is Doc Stanley's famous complaint about how rough dried corn cobs are; some scholars think Doc was..." Can't find anything on Harry Ace or Doc Stanley but presumably that's anyway another bluegrass tune. Does anyone know of any recordings of a "Corn Cob Blues"? I'd love to track this one down - tho of course it's quite possible the guy in the guitar shop wrote it himself. |
