BS: Is it time for a homeless President?

Perhaps a homeless person would manage our country's finances better. After all they are used to living on next to nothing.

I would like to see that. When I first read your post I laughed out loud.

Trouble is he would no longer be homeless if he was in the White House would he?

Yes, it's a contradiction in terms.

Besides, it takes an incredible amount of money to become president. That money has to come from the rich. The rich will not give it to a homeless person, they will give it to a member of their own club.

I realize I'm stating things that are dead obvious...like saying "water is wet"...but sometimes that's the best thing to do in a case like this. ;-)

Anyone for another French Revolution?

Good point. What we would need is a constitutional amendment that declares that the president should live on minimum wage in a pup tent on the White House lawn until the country is in the black, until there are no more homeless and until there are no more unemployed.

Let the bugger live like an American.

Now yer talkin'! A great leader is one who is willing to share the same conditions and hardships as the lowliest of his people.

Obama did "live like an American" when he worked with poor communities on the south side of Chicago. But, what does "live like an American" really mean? It means many things.

Did you notice today in his speech that his hair has turned almost completely gray?

The White House does not belong to the occupiers, it belongs to the American people. So he or she would still be homeless.

"Is it time for a homeless President?"

Why not! We have a mindless president now.

No, the problem is we have a mindless electorate.

I believe Thomas Jefferson made a comment or two about that some time back.

Thomas Jefferson won't be around much longer. The Texas School Board wrote him out of the American Revolution.

And we've had a brainless president twice: Reagan & Bush Jr. Public seemed to love 'em.

Yeah but the homeless person would spend all the money on drugs and booze. The secret service would find him passed out in the oval office with a needle in his arm.

That is a sad stereotype Amergin and it is mostly untrue. There was a homeless camp near us one time and the people didn't have enough for food. I didn't see any drugs and not much beer. They were just ordinary people down on their luck.

From NBC:

Is The White House for Sale?

As we looked through the latest properties to hit the market this weekend, we came across a rather famous address that is apparently now for sale: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW -- aka The White House.

Redfin has the executive lodging listed for $10 million. The 55,000 square-foot property has a price per square foot of $182.

Clones... should you combine the two threads? "Is it time for a home/o/less president"?

Or is that a joke too far for Mudcatters? If so, please address your comments directly to the round file as I don't care if you don't have any sense of humour.

But, I think it's about time the government gave a reach-around to the poor that are getting fucked up the ass every day while billions are spent on space exploration and weapons of sad distruction or political spin advertising or whatever.

Yes, I am having a bad day. And I am testy about having my testes squeezed by these rich... oh, nevermind... when I hear an ad on the radio or TV that says millions of children in the USA are underfed, I can just turn the channel.

Fatuous. One could have a great sense of humour and still think that's a stupid joke. In fact, the better one's sense of humour, the more likely the would be to think that's a stupid joke.

In the War of 1812-14 that lasted until 1815, we in Canada did our best to make your president homeless when we burned the White House. It`s not like we didn`t do OUR part.
