The hours are long and the pay is poor but the rewards are priceless.

Dan, I envy you that relationship. I grew up without a father.

Anyway, being a father has been a real pleasure for me. You all have heard from Becca72, and I have two other outstanding daughters. I'm so proud of them it's all I can do to not tell them.

David Wild writes in the HuffingtonPost:
""That Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine" has been gone for more than a year now, so these days I'm pretty much in the business of getting father's day gifts rather than giving them. But I will always believe that the gift of music is more beautiful and powerful than even the nicest tie or pen set. So here's my musical gift for all of the other dads out there in Huffington Post-land. As always, please add your own and let's help make this the mother of all Father's Day Playlists:

THAT SILVER HAIRED DADDY OF MINE - The Everly Brothers
SONG FOR MY FATHER - Horace Silver
HE DIDN'T HAVE TO BE - Brad Paisley
FATHER AND DAUGHTER - Paul Simon
DADDY COULD SWEAR, I DECLARE - Gladys Knight & The Pips
MY FATHER'S GUN - Elton John
DADDY SANG BASS - Johnny Cash
TO DADDY - Emmylou Harris
FOREVER YOUNG - Bob Dylan
YOUR DAD DID - John Hiatt
YOUR MOTHER AND I - Loudon Wainwright III
YOUR DADDY LOVES YOU - Gil Scott-Heron
FATHER AND SON - Cat Stevens
I HATE YOU BIG DADDY - Dewey Cox
MAMADADDYDID - Paul Westerberg
BEAUTIFUL BOY - John Lennon
WHO'S YOUR DADDY - Ringo Starr
ANGEL ABOVE MY HEAD - Neil Diamond
DADDY'S COME HOME - Gary U.S. Bonds
PAPA DON'T PREACH - Madonna
PAPA DON'T TAKE NO MESS - James Brown
DADDY DON'T LIVE IN THAT NEW YORK CITY NO MORE - Steely Dan
SO LONG DAD - Harry Nilsson

Happy Father's Day to all the loving dads out there, especially the ones who didn't have to be."

Here's one for you Amos. But it's tough to watch without grabbing for a hankie..

Chet Atkins sings...

"I Still Can't Say Goodby"

my dad has been gone now for over 8 years
he did not live to see his great grand child
(or the one(s) to come) but he lives on in
them, in a way.

that chet atkins sure has a great hat for that song..

That Silver haired Daddy of mine was one I learned as a boy from Gene Autry.

Add to that list, Dave Mallett's "My Old Man."
