This gig has altered over the last few months. We had originally intended to feature the "Two Duos" but, ultimately, this wasn't possible.

However, the above line up is wonderful in itself especially as one of my favourite local musicians Claire Mann is centre piece. I first heard her play at the one and only(as far as I can recall) Leith Folk Festival back in 1997 and have loved her music ever since. An excellent performer on both fiddle and flute who has always remained true to the tradition without resorting to "gimmickry" and trendy pursuits. I'm fully prepared to give this one my very own personal endorsement.....for what it's worth, you might say but I'm always right. :-)

Just listen to her music here. It speaks for itself.

I should also mention Aaron and Nathon, of course.

Aaron is a previous Scots Trad musician of the year and has played with just about everybody including Old Blind Dogs(also previous winners), Craobh Rua to name but two bands and is a highly sought after accompanist. Nathon is also a fine musican and notably dobro player.

Here's a brief biog of Claire and Aaron..

"Claire Mann (flute, fiddle, whistle and vocals) and Scots Trad Music Awards 'Instrumentalist of the Year 2005' and member of Old Blind Dogs Aaron Jones (vocals, bouzouki, guitar) met on the thriving Edinburgh folk music scene back in '97. Over the years they have developed a unique and exciting musical relationship, performing a mixture of traditional and original Scottish and Irish music and song.

As well as performing together as a duo they are currently involved in a new and exciting collaboration between Scotland and Germany called "2duos". They have also played together in many line-ups, including with Tom McConville, Tabache and Craobh Rua, and have made countless television, radio and festival appearances worldwide."

"This is what the music's all about for me, spirited performances from everyone involved and an obvious joy at working together for that ultimate goal." - Pete Fyfe, www.folking.com

"Adept on fiddle, flute, whistle, bouzouki, guitar and bass, Claire and Aaron have the qualities required to headline major folk festivals. Exquisite touches show why this is high above the competition."- Keith Ames, Musician Magazine

Venue: Pleasance Cabaret Bar, Edinburgh at 20.00

I've seen this trio performing together and can also vouch for their excellence.
