The BULL BAY HOTEL IS WELCOMING US BACK FOR OUR 3RD BULL BAY MUSIC FESTIVAL!! New owners – Calvin (Dad) and son Shane are nervously expecting us. Arrangements so far are that we can have free camping (they've been asked to pay for the field so they will fund that) and we will arrange some kind of food tokens for musicians for the weekend. I'm still chatting to them about the finer details but we will be fine! The date; Thursday 29th July – early bird session in the bar Friday 30th Bands in the bar plus sessions Saturday 31st Bands in the bar in the afternoon plus sessions Sunday 1st Session afternoon and evening Pete Latham - Blues in the Afternoon! Monday 2nd clear field by 11am. Facilities as before although I am assured that the outside loo is getting a makeover! We'll be welcome to use the loos etc inside. Meals will be reasonable priced for musicians and I am sorting out some food tokens for session musicians! Please let me know as soon as you can if you will be joining us as I know the Shane needs numbers as soon as possible so he knows how much beer to buy in! I need actual names for food tokens! Angie and John hook up in the car park with Norma and Stephen – the rest of us should be ok in our field!! Really lovely to catch up with old and new friends from as far afield as Norwich to Stoke and Chester and a HUGE contingent from Middlewich! Lots of lovely music - a super slide guitar workshop from Dave King on Saturday - astounding performances from all the artists! Thanks to all those who came and joined us and made the weekend a huge success! Dolphins put in several appearances including Ernie! Rained Saturday but held off the rest of the weekend! Watch this space for next years plans!! Lovely to catch up with Jo on Monday before we came home! I'll update my website with 'photo's sometime soon when I have caught up with the mountain of washing, clearing out the caravan and getting back to reality! Thank you so much to all my lovely friends for making this such a lovely weekend away... We left on Friday and the rain was so hard and continuous that we stopped off gratefully at Llandudno and booked a nice warm bed for the night. On the Saturday we met up with some old friends and so we never did get up to Bull Bay. So maybe next year !! Oh and believe it or not on the prom right outside our bedroom window there was a set visiting Morris dancers doing several sets !!! I asked where they came from and was told that they were from Surrey. There were also a number of members of The Bethesda Group with them. I am not too familar with morris ( even though my father was a member of a troup many moons ago) and when a saw one of the musicians playing a saxophone I thought it very unusual??? I do have some pics and clips but don't know how to put them up here at mudcat. Cheers MikeL2 |
