Does any one know the words to two-car garage sung by Burl Ives? I've two lines stuck in my head and would like to be able to sing the whole song.

It can't be impossible for this bunch to dig up a Burl Ives song....but I looked in 9 Burl CDs and didn't find it. It's on an album called Little Bitty Tear: The Nashville Years 1961-1965 (5-CD Box Set) - it's a Bear Family reissue, and costs only $117.52 at oldies.com.
I guess I can do without it.

part of the words are:

You'll be all alone for breakfast for a table set for two, one morning when the dew is on the lawn. You'll look out across the driveway to the two-car garage and on of the two cars will be gone

Repertoire.BMI.com lists—would you believe?—7 different songs called TWO CAR GARAGE. Here's one of them, from Metrolyrics.com:

TWO CAR GARAGE
Martin G. Derstine (a.k.a. J. D. Martin) and Gary Harrison
Sixteen Stars Music
As recorded by B J Thomas, 1983.

I used to be Mr. Free, tall, dark and cool
I did a solo act, made up my own rules
Then you came along and changed my point of view
Oh baby, what am I gonna do?

Just look at me, looking at you
I can't believe the things I'm looking forward to
Would you believe I'm thinking about a

Two car garage and a two story house
And a couple of kids we can brag about
Give me a two-tone Chevrolet and too many bills to pay
And your two arms to make me happy living that way

I used to play such a game of hide and seek
I'd go looking for love then hide if it saw me
You could find me with my friends hanging out on the street
Now they're wondering where I could be

Well, it's Saturday night and it's just you and me
Snuggled up on the couch watching TV
Would you believe I'm thinking about a

Two car garage and a two story house
And a couple of kids we can brag about
Give me a two-tone Chevrolet and too many bills to pay
And your two arms to make me happy living that way

If we don't get to Paris, it won't break our hearts
We'll just pack up the kids and go to Yellowstone Park

I want a two car garage and a two story house
And a couple of kids, we can brag about
Give me a two-tone Chevrolet and too many bills to pay
And your two arms to make me happy living that way

All I want is you, baby, and your sweet love
All I want is you, baby, and a two car garage
All I want is you, baby, and a two story house

Sorry I even bothered with that previous song.

Allmusic.com says TWO CAR GARAGE was written by Lyle Moraine, who also wrote several other songs that Burl Ives recorded:
CAN ANGELS FLY OVER THE ROCKIES
GALISTEO
I FOUND MY BEST FRIEND IN THE DOG POUND
MR MAKEUP MAN
SOMEONE HANGIN' ROUND YOU ALL THE TIME
THIRTY THOUSAND FEET OVER DENVER
...none of which I've ever heard of.

I listened to a sound sample and this is what I heard:

I hope ev'ry tear reminds you I don't love you anymore.
You're gonna look out across the driveway to a two-car garage,
And one of the two cars will be gone.

(You're gonna be all alone for breakfast at a table set for two
Some morning when the dew is on the lawn....)

I often tailor my purchases of recordings according to Mudcat requests. I was tempted to buy this one, but it's only available in the Bear Family set, which costs $$115.
And I have the impression that the "Nashville" recordings of Burl Ives are best forgotten.

Joe, I just found something really neat. Stashed away in some boxes are some cassette tapes I made of Burl Ives and had forgotten. They have on them most of the songs the Bear 5-disc set you mentioned for over 100 dollars has. I could copy them and send them to you if they still make blank cassette tapes and if you would reimberse me for the postage

MCA gave permission to Soundrite Music Wholesale, in Manchester to release a CD "The Very Best of Burl Ives" in 1993. One of the 20 tracks is "Two Car Garage". The label is called "Sound Waves" and the reference is SOW 708. Another nice song on it is "The Late Movie"
I'll type out the lyrics later if you still need them.

TWO CAR GARAGE
(written by Lyle Moraine, as recorded by Burl Ives)

There's gonna be tears on your pillow, and a shadow on your heart
Some morning when you wake up with the dawn
Your gonna look out across the driveway to a two car garage
and one of those two cars will be gone.

You can shed your tears forever, but the day I pull the door
I hope every tear reminds you I don't love you anymore
Your gonna look out across the driveway to a two car garage
and one of those two cars will be gone

You're gonna be all alone and reckless at a table set for two
some morning when the dew is on the lawn
you're gonna look out across the driveway to a two car garage
and one of those two cars will be gone

You may walk the floor forever, but there'snothing you can do
When I pull the door behind me that means you and I are thru
your gonna look out across the driveway to a two car garage
and one of those two cars will be gone.

Lyle Moraine was a film actor and only wrote a few songs. He had some success with a song called "Christmas Island" which wsa recorded by Bing Crosby in 1946. Otherwise he wrote a few for Burl Ives, including "I found My Best Friend in the Dogpound"

Hi My ears aren't too great. All alone for breakfast makes a lot more sense than reckless in the second last verse. Pity I did'nt see the fragment posted above.
