Spider John Koerner, the legendary US folk blues singer/guitarist who was an early influence on Bob Dylan and admired by John Lennon, recorded 3 albums for the iconic Elektra label in the 1960s as part of the Koerner Ray & Glover trio before embarking on his solo career.

Still stomping at age 71, he returns to the UK for his first tour in 29 years. He was recently subject of a cover feature on the July 2010 issue of fRoots magazine.

He will be accompanied on this tour by his long-term friend, fiddler Chip Smith.

Tickets for the Leopard, Burslem gig available from me. 30 gone since yesterday, when we opened the box office. 60 left, act now!!!!! And what an experience, so see the great man again. Anybody remember "Blues, rags and Hollers"? What an impact that made. Stunning stuff.
The Leopard in Burslem, for those who like the history of England's industrial revolution, was the pub where Brindley and Wedgwood met and drew up the idea of the Trent and Mersey canal on the back of an envelope. And there is also a ghost upstairs. And a very good selection of real ales. What's not to like?

only 30 tickets left for the Burslem(Stoke-on-Trent) gig mentioned above. Book now for a guaranteed good night out, Spider John Koerner was definitely one of those who made the name we call it by. Nobody played guitar like that boy, a genuine demon

I didn't see him - this was an old LP that had me grinning from ear to ear. I must been a mere teenager at the time. My record/CD collection is in an appalling state and I have to hunt for hours to find anything at all - so please bear with me!

Spider John and Chip Smith were truly amazing and gave a memorable wonderful show at the Royal Oak in Lewes on Thursday night. Don't miss a chance to see them even if it means travelling a long way. It's only a short tour - full details in the opening post.

Here are the remaining dates on the tour. Young aspiring song-writers should especially go and see him. Bob Dylan and John Lennon were both influenced early by Spider John Koerner....and look how well they did afterwards. You know it makes sense.
