Folklore: Bare foot dancing

Any evidence for a tradition of bare foot 'exhibition' dancing? Analagous to clog, step or whatever? Not simply people too poor to have footwear?

Maybe a bit off what you had in mind, but a past girlfriend in Illinois had a "grasshopper" pin for participating with a group doing squardancing barefoot in the grass. Too long ago for me to remember more details.

I know a resort where they have Saturday night dances, and a bunch of people dance barefoot-all-over. : )

I have posted this link before, I know, but it is worth another look since it meets the thread subject so perfectly. :-}
