Looking at the back of my copy of Bob Copper's "A Song For every Season" - the back section of which contains Jim Copper's songbook - there are several interesting time signatures. The song "Seamen Bold" is written in 5/4 - wonder what Brubeck would have made of that - and several with shifting time signatures within the tune. All of which probably reflected the unforced and personal way of Jim's family's singing. I've just been looking through my recently-purchased copy of John Kitkpatrick's excellent "Jump At The Sun" tunebook, and goggling over "Bobby Shafto Gone Bonkers", with time signatures going from 4/4 to 9/8 to 7/4 to 3/2 to... madness! |

That way I get the sound right first time, and the earbuds are noticeable but not (I hope) too obtrusive, as full earphones would be. :-) |
