The Rolling Hills Folk Club are hosting their first ever Folk Festival in Melrose, near the Scottish border this weekend. It's a new festival, so it needs the support of everybody to make it a success. Any other Mudcatter's going?

It's not the first Melrose Folk festival though.

There used to be one held there for several years until around 1997 or so before The Both Sides of The Tweed days.

I wish it well, nevertheless

Oh, so many reasons to return to Scotland - but not enough notice or time!
Hope all goes well.
Hazel.

I wish it well and would love to have supported it - but oh, I wish I'd had more notice. Do post earlier if it's going to be on next year!

The last time I was at Melrose Folk Festival was about 1996, pre smoking ban, and the air in the pubs where the sessions were was that thick you could have cut blocks of it for building :) Hope the new festival is as friendly as the old one was.

How did the new festival go and is there a date set for next year yet?

Well, I can't answer for anyone else, but my part in it (Concert at the Wynd Theatre) seemed to go very well, and I even managed to sell quite a few CD's. :) Unfortunately I couldn't stay for the next day, (Saturday) and I haven't heard from anyone else, so I don't know if it was an overall success or not.

I can also vouch for the concert at the Wynd - both Bob and Suzie Kelly were excellent and the audience was most appreciative. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to anything else as we had just taken delivery of a very small, very widdly, very anxious puppy. My wife went to the big concert at the Corn Exchange featuring Archie Fisher and thoroughly enjoyed that.

Rolling Hills Festival 2 will be 29th-31st July, 2011.
