They are almost all in English, but some have Celtic influence. The list gives where you can find the lyrics and the music written down (rarely at the same place), and, where I could find them, recordings of them. I'll be interested in any you can find too! I am especially looking for the music to Harvest Morn (the lyrcs are on the Legendary Dartmoor site) and "When Roger and Nell...." or whatever, a dance song with the chorus "Harvest Home". Slag310 |

The query could mean "I am looking for English songs, but it doesn't matter if they are Irish Scottish or Manx, that would be just as nice". Or does it mean "I am looking for what I have been told are called "Celtic Songs" so they can be Scottish, Irish or Manx. But not, heaven forbid, English". Personally, I would have a look at Cornish and Welsh songs too and, yes, even English ones as well. |
