In-character lover's funeral farewell

Possibly a bit of an odd request, this one.

I play in a live-action roleplaying system with a high-fantasy medieval theme. At the next big event, which is end of August, there's a very good chance that my character's lover is going to die messily due to Plot, and as a thank you to his player I'd like to be able to sing something at the memorial afterwards if it does happen.

I'm looking for something that can be sung as an a capella solo, suited to an alto/low soprano range. So far the closest I've found that fit are Karine Polwart's "Light on the Shore" and Fisher's "Free At Last", but sadly both have already been claimed and performed by other people with some minor edits. Given the setting anything specifically religious or mentioning technology such as firearms should be avoided, and given the character I'd really like something of the painful rather than peaceful variety.

Any suggestions?

This is in Scots and the genders are the wrong way round, but should be easy enough to adapt. The tune is extraordinary.

Quhair wile I lay my hede,
Quhair lay my bodie doune,
Qhairfor na am I died,
Sen' wandrin' I bene bown;
O! Marie ze war fairer

O! blythsom was the wi time,

But cauld's thy bodie now Marie,

Quhairfor do I here tarry,
An' canna win to thee.
