It's *probably* a Scottish tune - and the pacing of it I have in my head, I would describe it as a march. I have recorded a very very rough version of it here: http://lnk.ms/9n8zL Please can someone tell me : what it's called, who wrote it (if known), and when? I'd be very grateful. thanks Steven |

It was composed by Donald Shaw, at the time,a member of the group " Capercaillie ". It was written to commemorate the building of a road in the Isle of Raasay by a crofter, Calum MacLeod, two miles long and with no mechanical aids, just a pick, shovel and wheelbarrow. the tune has become very popular in recent years with S.D.B"s Joe. |
