My guest tomorrow (Thursday August 19) on Folk Roots/Folk Branches is folk and blues legend Spider John Koerner. There's lots of other great music on the show as well.

The show is heard locally on CKUT, 90.3 FM in Montreal from 9-11:30 am (EDT).

Mudcatters are, as always, invited to listen via RealAudio. CKUT's RealAudio feed is available from Folk Roots/Folk Branches.

My guests next week will be John Roberts & Tony Barrand.

ThankYouThankYouThankYou, Mike.

I'm one of his biggest fans. (Out here is a smallish Central Coast of CA town I someotimes wonder if I'm the only one.)

I'll forego my ususl "Morning Edition" and listen to as much as possible before leaving for work tomorrow morning. Do you tape the shows, and is there a way I can get a copy? Be happy to pay for it.

I'm with you Carlzen. We had Spider John in concert here in Toledo Oregon in April of 1997. He did two shows and the first was an afternoon concert for the kids and he was terrific; wore a real cool umbrella hat in homage to our great weather and his evening show blew people aways. Plays this old beat up 12 string and does it ever sound great. Keep in touch as we're looking for a repeat with Spider John sometime early next year..........

I bought Spider John a beer in a small Detroit club in 1962. He played "Good Time Charlie" for me. He is the greatest.

I was living in Copenhagen the same time John was and I got to meet him there. He was playing "American Music" and recruited several young Danes to accompany him. I was constantly blown away by "If you play the game of life, you got trouble you got strife, Jack of Diamonds is a hard card to find."

My absolute favorite, though is his bluesy "On Top of Old Smoky"
