04 Aug 10 - 06:14 AM (#2957866) Subject: Trevor Peacock From: mikesamwild As part of a bit of reasearch on songs about the Spanish Civil War a few of us are trying to work out the writer of Little Yellow Roses, which both Fay Hield and partner Jon Boden sing. It is said to have been a translatio of a poem by a Spanish Republican sentenced to death an set to music by somebody. It got into the Forest Camps songbook in the 60s. The earliest confirmed source is sung by Adam Faith writeen by Trevor Peaclock ( he of Vicar of Dibley ) music arranged by John Barry. Mr Peacock also wrote Mrs Brown you've got a lovely daughte! has nayone any more info on Mr Peacock or his address or does anyone know how he came to write it and which soldier it's about |
