Does anyone out there in Mudcat land have any further information on this? Also, did it originate in the USA or in Great Britian? SOL |

His older sister was born in Byelrus, and he was his parents' first child born in the United States. He also had four younger sisters. They lived in East New York, Brooklyn. I was born in Brooklyn, in 1942, and grew up in East Flatbush. When I was a little girl, in the 1940's, my father used to sing this song to my brother and me. He said he learned it in the streets when he was young. A raymo, a rymo, it ain't gonna rain no more, It rained last night and the night before, and it ain't gonna rain no more. A skinny old maid she took a bath and she did not tell a soul, she forgot to put the stopper in and she fell right through the hole. The boy stood on the burning deck his feet was full of blisters, he jumped up on his grandpa's neck and he pulled out all his whiskers. A raymo, a rymo, it ain't gonna rain no more, it rained last night and the night before, and it ain't gonna rain no more. -MerlePsyA; 8/24/2011 |
