free banjo chords?

Hi folks? Anybody know any websites where there may be listed chord structures for a 5-string banjo? I have a brass band that has asked me to play with them, but have only plunked around on my banjo. I'm way too cheap to buy a chord book, and don't have a decent library nearby. Help? Thanks & peace, Bo

get a four string banjo; it works better for brass band accompaniment, and the chord books should be cheaper!

I know that you mentioned that you are too cheap to buy a chord book, but the (Complete?) Banjo Case Chord Book is a wonderful little book that fits right into the neck of your banjo case, shows chords in several tunings and cost about $4-5.00 U.S. and is available in most major music stores. I'm sorry, I don't know who publishes it and my copy isn't ready available. I could find out over the weekend if you would like to know. It is a wonderful resource.

Don't you mean "THREE" Banjo Chords?

That should be enough for anyone;-)

Bert,

Yeah, but you have to be able to play those three in different tunings before you can call yourself a banjo player.

You don't have to free banjo chords - I have found that they usually manage to gang up together, and escape when you are not looking!!!

You mean you can actually play chords on this thing?

And here I was using it for a canoe paddle.

Well aside from the jokes you might try looking at this site: http://www.home.gil.com.au/~jamas/qbgrass3.html

It looks helpful. I found it by searching "banjo chords" in Google.
