Vin Garbutt Film Appeal

Subject: VIN GARBUTT Film Appeal
From: Zany Mouse

Had an email in from Vin's people. Thought someone in mudworld might be able to help.

AN APPEAL FOR FILM FOOTAGE OF VIN FOR FORTHCOMING VIN MOVIE "Teesside Troubadour".

Is there anybody out there with film/video of Vin performing in 60s/70s/80s?

Does anyone have a copy of the show in Stainsby, Chesterfield from 1973?

or the b/w clip filmed above a shop in South Bank, Teesside in the very early days?

or a copy of the TV footage from the Cambridge Festival in 1980 and 1982?

ALSO DOES ANYONE HAVE PRO-QUALITY LIVE STILLS FROM THE 1970s/80s ?

Full credit will be given to all who can help!

Many Thanks,

Hi there,

Do you have a copy or access to the film of Christchurch Folk Festival in 1972?
Vin is performing a whole song with one of his wonderful intros. It is called - Midsummer at Christchurch, and is 30 mins. long and in Colour.
I have a copy on DVD (for I am also on it!), but I am in the USA.
It was made by the BBC, and I know that Paul Marsh of Forest Tracks Records in Hampshire also has a copy and might be a good contact.
Just search on the web for Forest Tracks and you should be able to contact him.
I do have a URL

BBC also broadcast some footage of Vin from Cambridge about 1983? I remember it showed him doing "The lass I left behind me/Brighton camp" complete with intro longer than the song. Nick Baraclough was the presenter.

Latest email from Craig came in today:

Many thanks for the response to my appeal for vintage Vin footage - some rare
gems have been unearthed and hopefully, subject to copyright licensing, will
appear in the film.

URGENT:
Can the guy who attended the Moorsholm show and told Vin about the early b/w clip
from the 60s/70s filmed above a shop in South Bank - please get in touch asap!

And lastly to save people emailing me - I have Vin's South Banker Show video!

Many thanks,

Thanks to Rtim, ZanyMouse and BBCWrestler,

I have the Christchurch clip and BBC Cambridge clips form 80 and 82 plus Did you See with Ludovic Kennedy - Vin is pundit on TV review show. I also have the SAtainsby Festival film from 73 thanks to the maker of that film Tony Trafford.

What I am still hoping to track down is closer to home - a bw cineclip of Vin playing in his native South Bank on Teesside in a room above a shop. late 60s or early 70s...the bloke who has it came to a local show here on Teessdie gave Vin his number but it got lost in Vin's labyrithine pockets that contain all sorts of bric a brac...we are putting an appeal in the local paper for it.

cheers to everyone - the film is nearly done and was shown last week as a test showing at Saltburn folk festival to a great reception.

cheers Craig Hornby

For the Stainsby footage you could try - via the website - Tony Trafford, Chair of Stainsby Committee and film maker.

Vin played at Cropredy in 1983 - the last year I went. I don't know if anyone filmed it but some footage of the Albion Band from the same year turned up on Youtube so who knows?
