Here it is, folks, and 'Spaw! Here is the message I sent to Hiroshi Ogura with the reply!

Hello, I was reading some old threads at the Mudcat Cafe discussion forum and I saw your request for lyrics to a song about 10 pounds of possum in your headlights. I am wondering if you ever got your request filled, because someone sang that song recently at song circle in Portland Oregon. If you want them, please email me. If you don't want them, please email me anyway, because I want to make sure I have gotten the right Hiroshi Ogura. Thanks,

Margarita

Now the reply:

Actually, I've managed to find the lyrics by searching through the net. Please e-mail the lyrics that you found anyways so that I could compare it with what I have. Thanks!

--Hiroshi (a former SE Portland resident)

So you see, folks, there are some real people out there! That is unless, Hiroshi is the only real one and he created the rest of us.......aaaaaaaaah

Margarita, I think

I don't know, guys. You may be getting suckered in again--we have only Margarita's word here: SHE could have made up that return message. Maybe she's jealous of Kat getting all the attention and so decided to create her own imaginary friend. Until Hiroshi Ogura appears in person I ain't buyin' it. --seed

Don't care whether ol' Hiroshi is imaginary or not. I'm having a great time saying his wonderful name. Hiroshi Ogura, Hiroshi Ogura, Hiroshi Ogura. Great. E.S.

Admit I was wrong to Catspaw? Do you know the implications Jeri?
Oh all right. I was wrong! I constantly doubt you!

"not that there's anything wrong with that"!

Seed, you just don't want to admit that I am the creator and you all are just a figment of my warped imagination! Maybe you ought to show up at my song circle so I can see if you really do exist! :o)

Nothing Wrong with Doubting ME???? Why of course not...I often doubt me except in those frequent instances where there is no doubt which occur with a regularity equal to a healthy BM, unless I am of course being my usual full of it self and the self takes control over my id which I no longer have to use to buy beer and wine which accompanies the cheese for which my preference is Swiss and Provolone when being alone is preferable to my own company which has a hard time keeping it's head above the water left when the glaciers receded along with Father Joebro's hairline as the crack which developed by using abrace of dissimilar wood but and not of the Engleman variety which I do prefer in my cereal...........Why would anyone doubt ME??? Especially a guy who gives the gift of seaweed?

AnnaP - How did he explain a bunch of us actually showing up?

'Spaw, I don't think you were s'posed to smoke the seaweed. (C'mon, what's the story!?)

Hey, he emailed me again with more lyrics to add to what someone posted in the original possum thread:

Hi Margo,

Thanks for the lyrics! The version that I have is slightly different (and slightly longer too.)

My family is hungry, and my dog needs a bone
I'm out of job, and I'm driving home

Suddenly the things are looking mighty bright

I've got five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight!

CHORUS:

Yeah, I've got five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight

And if I can get a piece of him, it'll be all right

Biscuits and possum gravy, oh what a delight!

Yeah, I've got five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight!

I'm thinking of gravy or maybe a stew

My family will eat well if my aiming is true

I'm shifting my headlights from dim up to bright

And I've got five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight!

CHORUS

My prospects will prosper, my outlook will blossum

If I can just get me a bead on that possum

He'll shift to the left and then he'll slide to the right

But I've got five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight!

CHORUS

We'll have some good meat in our hot soup, you all

If I can just line up on that mar-su-pi-al

Some may think I'm wrong but I know that I'm right

And I've got five pounds of possum in my headlights tonight!

CHORUS

FIRST VERSE AND CHORUS

--H.

I like the part about mar-su-pi-al
