Shouldn't that be "The night Will Fly with A Day"?

Or something?

Now there's the High Brooms "Diddley" on again on Thursday 23rd September, and several people have asked me "are we going to see that bloke and lady with the guitars and the feller with the concertina again, they were pretty good?" so you'd be more than welcome if you're free.

I wish you could be here to see us as well, Dan. Don't know if we'll manage to get the DVD equipment set up, but here's an informal video of us playing a couple of French tunes...

Hallo Rob and thanks for your invitation, the 23rd may be a bit awkward,
but if you could let us know some other dates we would be pleased to come along to your quirky pub for another session. We certainly enjoyed the last one.
Thanks Old Dude ,it will be very similar to what we played at Warwick but with a few new additions. We have a number of tunes that we will video for Utube, especially "Stage door Jenny" of Music Hall style that is proving quite popular.
We shall understand if you cannot get there Leadfingers ,perhaps another time.

Hi Rob - do let us know of other dates at High Brooms, it's an excellent venue. I can't make the 23rd September as, for my sins, I've agreed to be Musical Directory for a pantomime being put on by a local theatre company - and 23rd is a rehearsal night.

Terry - how could you NOT go and see Charlie Noble! Have a great night and we'll catch up some other time.

Alan/ Will, The High Brooms singaround's the 4th Thursday of every month. After 23rd September, the next ones are:

28th October
25th November

Theoretically there's one on 23rd December, but in previous years when the December one has run very close to Christmas (ie,most years)it's been cancelled. I suspect this one will be cancelled too.

I'll try to get along to your Frittenden evening at the end of October.

Could I say that on 27th. November the Lewes Saturday Folk Club will be meeting at the Crown Inn , 191 High Street, Lewes BN7 2NA instead of our usual room in the Elephant? This means that Will won't be able to take another picture of Alan with our resident angel, but we'll still have a very good night. Parking is easier and there will still be Harveys among those present.

"A night with Alan Day &Will Fly"

Good Lord! Do their wives know about this? Is it going to be filmed? Will they become the subjects of their own folk songs?

This is when I really wish I didn't think in pictures...

But then again....... ;0)

(Sorry, lads, I just couldn't resist)

(That Angel is very scary, btw...and I think their wives should make them both spend the night with her, 'cos it'll sure stop them from ever thinking about going on the road again in this manner!) LOL

OK, gotta go sit on the Naughty Step again now, before Joe tells me off. :0)

Hi Lizzie - the Angel actually is my wife - we just keep it very, very quiet. She's had a hard life, as you can see.

There were three in a bed, and the little one said, 'Move over!"...

Thanks for the compliment, Terry - we both enjoyed it. The icing on the cake for me was also seeing you and John Kelly (Harmonium Hero) doing excellent floor spots.

I confess to a rare moment of brain fade on one of the numbers when the words eluded me for a second or two - but the landlord's dog was sniffing round my ankles at the time! I was expecting to be peed on at any minute...

Thanks to Steve and all at the Sun, Windlesham, for having us there.

The Frittenden sessions format has the featured guests contributing three sets of three of whatever they do - though on this occasion Alan and Will honoured us with four in their last short set at the end of a splendid evening.

The idea is that we don't over-work our guests, which seems only right as we can't pay them - what we've got here is a songs and music session. It also means that good players and singers and whoever else comes along generally get a reasonable hearing.

It's a format that seems to make for a good night, and I'm delighted that have given us a good night a year or so ago, Alan and Will were happy to come back for a second time. I hope they will want to do so many more times in the future.

For information, see:

Looking forward to welcoming you at the Lewes Saturday Folk Club on 27th. November in The Crown Inn, 191 High Street, Lewes BN7 2NA. There's plenty of parking in the West Street car park behind the pub - just walk through the Market Tower and turn right.

I'm delighted to say that Twagger Band will be turning up to do a floor spot (Ian Chisholm, Will Duke, Sue EVans, Joy & Derrick Hughes).

Admission is £5 tonight, no membership is needed, and everyone's welcome especially if you'd like to sing or play.

You bet indeed! And Derrick's Northumbrian pipes and serpent are always a treat. I hear he's just acquired a tuba and assume he'll have to give it a separate pen from the serpent in case they breed.
