29 Aug 10 - 09:20 AM (#2975123) Subject: BS: Strange fruit at Whitby festival From: Mo the caller Holiday makers may have wondered why there were coconuts on the beach last Friday. A member of our dance workshop at the festival entertained us each morning by writing the praises of a caller or musician in the sand. For the final morning it was the praise of a dance 'Rosa' which starts with palms to your partners. He wrote/depicted the quote from Romeo and Juliet 'Palm to palm is holy palmer's kiss'. One of the palms was represented by a palm tree complete with cocnuts as a gift to random holiday makers. By 1pm half of them had gone, I wonder how many people saw the others and didn't take them (never take sweets from strangers). And if they were still there when the tide came in, where would they have washed up? That might give the oceanographers something to ponder about. |
