Yet Another Test Thread

In this thread David Sobelsohn reported having problems creating a thread. Seemed to work OK for me, but maybe David isn't registered.
I hope people realize that Max is in the process of bringing a number of new features to the 'Cat. Inevitably, some of them won't work, and some may cause the 'Cat to be sluggish. Constructive comments can be very helpful, but remember to be very nice when you criticize. This is a labor of love for Max - he doesn't get paid for it.

Not a criticize, but an observe( and I'm not sure it ain't me).

Threads seem to take a lot longer to load lately. About like when I was restricted with a noisy phone line & could only get 24,000 kbs.

With the cable connect I could load a thread before I could blink twice, but the last few days has been slow. However when I select a particular entry in a thread, it pops up like a champ.

Just an observe.

According to notes I have seen in several of the list servs to which I subscribe, ALL of the internet has been having trouble for a couple of weeks. My own ISP had a serious hard-drive crash and I lost a huge pile of communications, since many lists servs don't re-send after being bounced as "undeliverable." But I see a lot of people on BiblioXchange, for just one example, complaining about the problem. Maybe some of our experts in residence can offer (pun intended) an explanation. Joe?

Hey, with my ISP I rarely see my download speeds reach 2K, much less the 28.8 the modem is supposed to be capable of reaching. Pipelines are crowded, I guess. But this old 486 limps along at a raging 100, anyway. Someday I hope to achieve your fancy Pentium levels, Joel!

Sandy: Sometimes this cable connection isn't much better than the old phone line. Used to get download speed 4 to 5 kbs. With the cable the average is about 25 kbs; 10 times better. Hit 100 kbs once in a bit. Yesterday for some reason I would like to duplicate, I got a 500 kbs download. Just once.

at this site,http://www.internettrafficreport.com/ you can get some sense of the world internet...ratings go from 0-100, and things are hovering at about 50% right now...(scroll down for a link to details of world data)

It has seemed a bit slow to me, also, for awhile, and I have an excellent ISP with power, redundancy, and lyts of techies
