VT: Not sure that would help as if the person isn't logged in they wouldn't see their account information.

The only thing I can think of is to email Joe Offer who may be able to trace your MudCat name by your PC ID perhaps?

Do you have any guesses as to your Mudcat name?

Would any other MudCat member be able to identify your MudCat name? One of the registered members could PM them on your behalf and point them here.

Do you recall any threads that ou may have posted to while you were logged in? We could search the names on those threads perhaps?

Yep - that's the definitive answer. Send me an e-mail, and I'll help you out when I get home later this evening.

Trevor, if you didn't get a response from me, please contact me again. I sent you three e-mails, and two got returned. Seems strange, that I can click "reply" on an e-mail and still have it returned.

it won't let me join... ???

Since contact with Joe apears to have been made, reminders for the rest of us:

Several people have found the difference between "joining" and "logging in" confusing.

If you attempt to "join" (create a new membership) using either a "mudcat name" or an email address that you, or anyone else, has already used, your request will be rejected.

If you have ever had a mudcat name, you just want to log in. To log in, you need to know what mudcat name and password you used previously.

If you remember the mudcat name you used, but forgot the password, there's a "clickie" at the login page to request help, but the answer can only be sent to the email address you had when you joined - or to the last one you've used when you updated your profile.

(We shall all immediately check our profiles to make sure that mudcat has our current email addy?)

If you've changed your email address an email to to Joe O is about the only thing left- but nearly always works. You will need to give Joe some clues. Your current email address, previous email addy you may have used, and real name and at least a "best guess" at what mudcat name you might have used probably would be helpful.

Some email services are very restrictive, and it may be necessary to "add addressee to contact list" in order for a reply to an email to be received. It usually is possible to send an email to any address, even if the one who might attempt to reply - or the site or domain from which the reply might come - has been blocked in your "do not receive" filter. Usually putting Joe's email address in your contact list will assure that you receive his reply.

I thought the password-mailing utility had been fixed, but I tried it just now and couldn't get an e-mail from it. So, I guess you have to rely on me for password help - joe@mudcat.org
Be sure the word Mudcat is part of the title of your e-mail, so I can pick your message out from amidst the Spam.

Have patience - I check for messages several times a day, but I'm not online constantly.

Please remember that we allow only one Mudcat membership per person. If you need to change your user name for some reason, you may do this - although it's not something we encourage, because it confuses people. To change your user name or update your password or membership information click the Membership link on most Mudcat pages. "Membership" had been down, but it seems to be working now.

And if there is a compelling reason, we can make an exception and allow you to set up a new membership. But please check with Max or Big Mick or me before you set up an additional membership.

If you've ever posted, using that name, all you need is find that post and there's your name at the top.
