The pub at Achintee at the foot of Ben Nevis is supposed to have a folk night-cum-session, on (I think) Thursdays during the summer but when I last enquired there (in person) even the staff didn't know anything about it!!! |

I've been in a couple of times when they've had music on. If you're staying in the area the great Highland Fiddler Angus Grant (who's pushing 80 now) as a B & B on the outskirts of the town. He has a website and you can get details of it from the site. Not averse to a tune, either. Mary Ann Kennedy and her husband Nick Turner run a studio and label called Watercolour Music at Ardgour, just across from the Corran car ferry. They may know of any local sessions. The Ardgour Hotel, by the ferry, sometimes has impromptu sessions depending on who's using the studios. Watercolour is a fantastic place to record, by the way. Nick and Mary Ann have a newly-built complex with state-of-the art facilities and on-site accommodation with a fantastic view of the Ben (weather permitting). Nick is probably the most gifted engineer I've ever worked with. Donald Stewart and I recorded our CD there last year - if you want to check out the results you can do so on www.tradfiddle.com. |
