Castlebay House Concert at SINSULL's

09 Sep 10 - 06:59 PM (#2983503)
Subject: Castlebay House Concert at SINSULL's
From: SINSULL

This was listed on the perma-thread but deserves a thread of its own. And I want to get out the word on our new format.

Saturday October 23rd
Doors open at 7PM
Music starts 7:30 PM or there abouts.

This has been a tough year and some of you know I came very close to having to sell my house. We tried to get more interest in the pot luck but Jacqui, TRUBRIT and I carried the burden. I simply cn't afford to feed 20 people at a concert and ten for breakfast. Add in the cost of paper, plastic and wear and tear on my house and...
So:
Sad but true, we will open at 7PM. Bring wine and desserts. There will be two 45 minute "ACTS". Between them, there will be desserts and coffee or tea while you peruse the CD and book table. Later, a song circle for anyone who chooses to participate. The last three have been amazing.
AM, I will serve coffee. If our performers stay over there will be breakfast at Rudy's. Join us if you like but there will be separate tabs.I will of course cover our performers.
Maybe, if Obama is successful, we can resume the old format but for now it is austerity budget - first rate entertainment and good company.
So who's in for Castlebay? Who needs a bed?
Mary

$15 as always to the performers.

I will assign a collector. There was a discrepancy last time.

Well, as the official unofficial Castlebay roadie of many years, I will definitely be there. Kathy and Michael are probables, Jason is a maybe, and I'm hoping to get a pair of 16 year old twins with great voices there. They're huge fans of Fred and Julia, and they're both singers.

Heads up for anyone planning on bringing a pet. I just spent $58 de-fleaing my cats. It also meant - horror of horros - vacuuming furniture, floors, bedding and washing of everything in sight. If there is even a chance of a flea coming into my house, don't do it!
under penalty of death do not do it.

I know the rules for house concerts - no pets! I will point out that I have not brought a pet to a house concert since the rule was implemented (oh, wait - does Jason count?).

And Fred, Julia will not thank you for telling Mary that it is her birthday. Trust me on this one...

LOL Kendall. I thought the same thing. Seamus has a bag of food in the kitchen along with special treats and a container of chicken broth. He has two beds depending on his mood. Even the cats have come to believe he belongs here.
I even keep his prescription for arthritis here.
Some day I'll have a dog...

Happy B.D., too, to both Mary and Julia from us. I am soooooo late on everything. It's my mother's birthday tomorrow, too, and her card is still sitting on the table. (But I just got off the phone with her.)

You're lucky, Mary. I haven't yet found the appropriate hideobilia for your natal day.

Have fun, guys! We can't make it tonight -- sort of recovering from a pretty intense week.

What an Impressive performance!!! wonderful Music and singing, and an eclectic but always interesting mix of songs and tunes, in good company, What more could you ask for? well the conversation and singing after was pretty good too!! one of those evenings when things just come together and coalesce into something perfect, where the whole is so much greater than the sum of the parts! My Thanks to Fred and Julia and to my Hostess, a memorable evening, not many its equal and certainly Nun better!
