Step right up and place your bets. Where will Igor go?

I don't care how it's pronounced. I just hope it isn't pronounced.

My, but there's an awful lot of Canada sticking out in the the ocean that that storm can hit. That oughta knock the leaves off of the trees.

SRS

Nova Scotia lost a lot of trees to Jaun on 26 Sep 2003.

Right now, I don't think it's gonna make landfall in The Maritimes but it's way to early to tell. I'd put it on a curve to end up near St. Pierre - Miquelin. Dares a lo'a Newfies what would loike dat maid.

Both the Canuck and US sites show Igor smacking Bermuda with 90k winds. I assume Bermuda is used to it and well prepared. I hope.

Seems so. You might get some rain from Fiona, though. None for us, again, I fear.

oops, she's long gone. Looks like Julia will fizzle too. Drat, we really need more than a thundershower's worth of rain.

Probably don't want as much as Tampico is gonna get. The Canuck site says 95K at landfall.

Winds are picking up on the east coast of NF... 80 to 110mm rain and wind 100 to 130kph. NE shore may get worse according to the track.

Sandy... you catch any of it?

The Burin has had 4" of rain in 3 hrs and there's a lot of roads washed out, power out, people being rescued from their homes by boat, etc. The main bridge to the T-Can is damaged and unpassable.

It passed far enough south of Cape Breton for us to avoid the heavy rain. The sky is mostly blue here today but it is blowing a very heavy gale as the tail winds sweep back from the nor'west.

Our wind was (is) NNW and it was cooool this AM.

Over 200mm of rain so far in areas of the NF east coast. And they sure aren't used to storms like that.

Seriously, the tune changes made me laugh.

"Pike said they're getting help from repair crews from Alberta and P.E.I."

Alberta????? PEI? What about NB and NS? Odd!

Hmmm... do ya suppose the Alta thing has anything to do with Harper? I realize that's a stretch, but so is Alta, no?

Stevie boy has jetted in to survey the damage. Good move... spend all that $ to get a photo op instead of spending it on helping the Newfies. Like they couldn't use the $ themselves if he hadn't got his face on the news.

Is it just me that sees this idiocy? Hmmm... maybe not a good question.

Horrific photos, gnu. The force of water is well-nigh unbelievable. Six weeks later, how is restoration coming along?

The devastation must be overwhelming. The temptation for me in a situation like that, I'm afraid, would be to work my way out of town and out of county and to where the storm didn't hit and the conditions are normal. I hope not, I hope I would stay and help. But my lord!
