I should have posted this earlier...
A new folk club starts on Thursday 16th December (tomorrow) at The Three Horseshoes, Duton Hill, between Great Dunmow and Thaxted in Essex.

Third Thursdays of every month when there's an 'R' in the month. It's a sort of "son of Essex Singers Club"

Programme:

September 16 : Mary Humphreys and Anahata
October 21 : Annie Harding & Friends
November 18 : Karen and Colin Cater & Karen's "Spirit of the Hare" book launch
December 16 : Christmas Party!!!!
Bring your voice/instruments/sense of fun - 8pm, don't be late
Contact Colin 01787 462731

There'll be quite a few Chelmsford people there, I'm sure.

Tonight!
(and Lynne and Pat are coming)

Colin and Karen Cater are running the club, with backup from Mary and me. If it gets going I think I'll make a web site...

This was a really enjoyable evening. A fantastic venue and a good and enthusiastic crowd of ardent folkies who enjoyed the excellent Mary and Anahata, as well as floor singers and Korean bellydancing, which was superb.

Please explain why Thursday is such a popular evening for holding a folk club or session!

As I run sessions on the first and third Thursdays (Blackmore(Writtle) and Hertford) this adds another third Thursday club to the list that I am unlikely to be unable to attend, even though it is reasonably local, run by and featuring people I would like to see and hear.

Today I heard of another new club, in Loughton this time, run by Jim Coombes. Guess which night every week? You've guessed it - Thursday!

Oh well ... where two or three are gathered together...

Alan

Witham sing around is 3rd Thursday too. Margaretting and Billericay also on Thursdays.   Good question Alan.

You can't please everyone! Believe it or not, Thursday was carefully chosen because other nights clashed with important things...

IME Friday is one of the most popular nights for a Folk Club.

We might consider moving to a different day for the next season, but no doubt there will then be complaints from somewhere else.

And Bishop's Stortford (which has just moved to the British Legion Club, Windhill, which is warm and has excellent beer).

Yes, we knew about Stortfolk.
I'd heard of the move too; must come down and see the new venue some time.
