02 Oct 10 - 04:09 AM (#2997970) Subject: Derivation of 'Me oul' brown Son' From: GUEST,Patrick Purcell, Son of Noel Purcell Dad used this phrase as a catchphrase, as in 'How are ye going, Me Oul Brown Son?", when he didn't know a persons name. He said his mother used to use it, but I don't know its real derivation. I think it actually refers to a Pint of Guinness! As in: "I'm going to shake hands with 'Me oul' Brown Son'"! Any more prosaic suggestions? |
