Interesting Russian song that is almost butcher boy..sung by RUssian group of women with beautiful voices. I was surprised to find out that butcher boy is an English rather than Irish song.

On you tube it says this song was discovered in a tiny village sung by an old woman. Later I will post other versions of butcher boy that I like as I have been wanting to hear that song all day. mg

Skagi-skagi / Скаги-скаги (YouTube clip): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oius1eEpghU
Performed by the group Koleso / Колесо (Ring).

mg brought this clip to our attention in a previous thread (http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=129647#2912936), where I added this comment:

It might be easier searching for this song as "Скажи, скажи" (Skazhi, Skazhi = Tell, tell)--I'm guessing that "Skagi-skagi" is a regional pronunciation, probably with a modified g, akin to h or German ch.

Actually, to my ear, the lead singer sings "skazhi" rather than "skagi" (in any form).
