Hi there - I am trying to find a "Nobel Prize for Pete" bumper sticker to buy for a friend, but the nobelprize4pete.org site is down. Any tips from the Mudcat Community? Thanks! madelinecantwell@yahoo.com

The site may be down because the 2010 prize was just awarded: http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2010/press.html Still, for Pete, there is next year. I didn't think the committee would award to a US citizen for two consecutive years.

The site is up, now, Madeline. Otherwise, if you can generate a jpeg of what you want it to say, you could go to Cafepress.com and have any number of them printed off, even just one, and you do not have to have them in an open-to-the-public shop.

Sorry to hear he didn't get it, this year.

I believe this has been going on for several years. As great as Pete is, I do not believe he is currently provocative enough to get the award.

kenneth lindmark, you managed to post in UTF-8 encoding. You probably meant:
Pete är en sjävklar mottagare av nobels fredspris, pacifist och orädd kämpe!!!
meaning "yes, he deserves it." Right-click on this page and select "view source code" to see how to post here to ensure those umlauts being displayed correctly.

My own opinion:
There are more important things than Nobel prizes and stickers. To be remembered favourably, Seeger does not need any more honorings. Our time desperately needs peace heroes with new ideas; to find these we should not rely on prize committees. Peace itself is an attractive prize, let's win it ourselves!
