From: open mike There are quite a few of these hand musicians around... and have been guests on Prairie Home Companion and several night time variety shows...though i missed this until posted on facebook . My dad used to whistle with a blade of grass between his thumbs...hands together in similar fashion to this also the squirting of water that some folks have perfected while swimming, well, not actually WHILE swimming, as you need your hands to paddle, but when at a swimming pool or hole... would probably be a good exercise to prepare the hands for this.. |

There's was a particularly good example in the toilet block of the camp site I've been at for the last few days. I'd just about got When the Saints Go Marching In perfected by the end of our stay... It's a shame we never thought of doing anything beyond owl/train sounds. Hand Whistler (wish I had found a different clip) I love stuff like this! My grass (or cellophane) whistling is pretty limited to unlovely squawks and I can't hardly get a sound with handfarter efforts, but I sure do enjoy trying. If you squeeze a drumstick against your cheek and blow through the top of your gumline, you can make a sound that gets the boys in band in trouble. Girls don't make sounds like that, you know... I'll be keeping an eye open for a hard-blowing hand drier! |
