When I play my fiddle in the "C-train" stations in Calgary, I often get little snippets of this sort of thing - some guy going by will slow down and do a little hip-hop step-dance - but I've never had an extended episode like the one on the clip. Although I once had a guy do a full-length rap to the tune 'Silver & Gold' .... Re: the comments below the yt clip. It's nice to see how many people appreciate what's going on in the clip, some even recognizing the connection between this hip-hop (or whatever it's supposed be called) dance and older N. Am. folk dance. On the other hand, it's kind of sad how many posters assume that these guys are trying, unsuccessfully, to mimic something from some movie or music video that in actuality appeared sometime after this clip was recorded .... |
