Cleckie Wike: We will be ruining a fund raisin concert

But why would you want to do that? Let the poor buggers play in peace. what's the point in ruining a concert?

Signed:

Rob, Living in Kent, born and bred in Scholes, cleckheaton

Bruce Michael Baillie:

My mum and all my aunts and uncles were born in what was a row of cottages at the top of Old Popplewell Lane, between the farm and the mill (owned by my Great Uncle John Willie and Great Aunt Edith Priestley, and where all my aunties worked on the looms from about the age of 14). The farm, mill and cottages were later demolished and replaced by Cold Drawn Products...big ugly blue building that I could see from my bedroom window on Brookfields Road, just across the fields, where I lived for the first 18 years of my life.

You were lucky. When me mum went to skool in Scholes the kids took it in turns. Eight kids. Six pairs of clogs. And you had to turn up at school in footwear. But they were 'appy................

...I like the idea of a Blowing Club, think I'll start one? Would it be 'Blow' as in blowing a whistle or 'Blow' as in a baseball bat to the side of the head? I suppose it would depend on what area of Bradford you were in at the time?

Did Edith Priestley live in the United States at any time?

Guest B Ciosek: I presume you're referring to my comment re my Great Aunt Edith above.

No, as far as I know, she never lived in the USA at all. But there are several Edith Priestley's in various branches of my family. "Edith" is a family name that appears again and again in various strands of Priestleys, Dowells and Naylors from that area. I've found at least 3 Edith Dowells and 3 Edith Priestleys in graveyards in West Yorkshire!
