25 Oct 10 - 05:32 PM (#3015300) Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's Saga of Mass General From: jacqui.c We got back a couple of hours ago - they had a job to use the scope as his nasal passages seem to have tightened up a bit, but they managed to get it down there after a while. The airway doesn't look any smaller than it did when he was scoped in September and Dr Z would prefer not to do any more surgery than is necessary, besides which, enlarging the airway will lead to less voice. He's been put on low dose steroids for a couple of weeks to see if that helps with the breathlessness and we have an appointment with his primary care doctor tomorrow morning to see if anything else might be causing it. After that, we're back to Boston in two weeks time for another check up, just to make sure that everything is OK. The good news is that there is NO SIGN OF ANY CANCER! |

27 Oct 10 - 06:42 PM (#3017233) Subject: RE: BS: Kendall's Saga of Mass General From: Bat Goddess Always good to hear those words (especially from Dr. Z), "No sign of cancer." Curmudgeon's next procedure is the beginning of December. Dr. Z will, uh, slit his throat (sort of) and install a Gore-Tex flap bolstered by that body fat from the last procedure. Good to know it's gonna be weatherproof. Tom'll be in Mass General overnight (we hope no longer) but we have to stick close to the hospital for just shy of a week (just in case...), staying, more than likely, at Beacon House which is affiliated with Mass General. Another adventure. Kendall, the kinks will, indeed, get worked out. Just keep thinking "no cancer...no cancer...no cancer" (cuz we sure are!). Sending all kinds of white light and healing energy.
