The following free event may be of interest to anyone in the Manchester area on Saturday, 30th October 2010.


Bitter Cry of Labour

A talk by Roy Palmer to launch his new book. 'Working Songs' illustrates 200 years of workers' lives through ballads, song and verse. Songs will also be performed. (Pete Coe is one singer I know is booked to be present) Suitable for adults. Booking required. Free. 2.00pm – 4.00pm

I had planned to come but we have a much needed home match at Sheffield United. But I will certainly be buying the book (pub. Herron)

Last year I started putting local events to Manchester on The The Beech Facebook. I have been resting abroad but have returned and will try to se its upto date and includes gems like this

This thread reminds me that I first met David Eckersley of Herron Publishing 40 years ago at Sidmouth festival... many thanks to Roy for the books he's already put together and all best wishes for this one!
