18 Nov 10 - 10:54 AM (#3035165) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: changeling by crucible From: Jim Dixon Here is Crucible's page at Wildgoose Records. A further click will take you to a description of their album "Changeling." Note that Changeling is an album, not a song. It does, however, contain a song called CHANGELINGS (sic) LULLABY. Unfortunately, that site has no samples, lyrics, or notes about the song—not even a writer's credit. (But a review says: "words Gavin, tune and singing Jess.") Crucible's own web site has even less information. |
18 Nov 10 - 12:28 PM (#3035231) Subject: Add: CHANGELING'S LULLABY (Davenport/Arrowsmith) From: GUEST,GavDav CHANGELING'S LULLABY (Words, Gavin Davenport, Tune, Jess Arrowsmith) 1. My bairn was often silent and did sleep through half the night. And he greeted me every morning with a smile so full of light, But now you are much altered and do bawl the whole night through, So hush a while, my darling, so I might know it's you. CHORUS: Hush awhile, hush awhile, sleep now for me. Lay yourself softly if my babe you be, Or did some fay creeping from your crib steal you sleeping And leave me a creature that's nothing of me? 2. Your skin was like the lily fair, as soft as winter snow, Not like some screaming devil with his scarlet face aglow Who wails across the wind's soft sighs that creep the casement through, So hush a while, my darling, so I might know it's you. CHORUS 3. Your father says you're not his own nor any child of man's, But I think you have your father's smile, your father's gentle hands, And I pray that you will love me like your father used to do, So hush awhile, my darling, so I might know it's you. CHORUS 4. If your other couldn't love you, though a fairy babe you be, I would take you to the forest and I'd leave you 'neath yon tree, But while you are all I have, love, yet I still will cleave to thee, For whatever else you are, love, still your mother's love you be. Apologies for misspellings, punctuation errors etc. Crucible website is a terrible state, mainly due to the fact that the band can't administer it ourselves and we are currently regrouping, reforming, and set to sort things out in a big way for next year. Apologies for delays to individual requests - a combination of very busy lives, minor crapness and solo and side projects just going live!

19 Nov 10 - 01:30 PM (#3036090) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: changeling by crucible From: GUEST,crazy little woman Somebody play some harp glissandos and sprinkle some glitter as the Fairy Godmother appears. She opens the baby's mouth and comments that its gums, normally pink, are white with pressure. It's teething! What happens with teething? The teeth are literally cutting their way through the tissue. It hurts, and the baby cries and can't sleep. I'm not up to speed on the latest method for dealing with teething, but announcing that the kid isn't yours is not one of them. |

Lay yourself softly if my babe you be, Or did some fairy creeping from your crib steal you sleeping And leave me a creature that’s nothing of me? My bairn was often silent and would sleep through half the night. And he greeted me every morning with a smile so full of light, But now you are much altered and do bawl the whole night through, So hush a while, my darling, so I might know it’s you. Your father says you’re not his own nor any child of man’s, But I think you have your father’s smile, your father’s gentle hands, And I pray that you will love me like your father used to do, So hush awhile, my darling, so I might know it’s you. Your skin was like the lily white, and as soft as winter snow, Not like some screaming devil with his scarlet face aglow That sails across the wind’s soft skies (?) that creep the casement through, So hush a while, my darling, so I might know it’s you. If your mother couldn’t love you, though a fairy babe you be, I would take you to the forest and I’d leave you ’neath yon tree, But while you are all I have, love, I still will cleave to thee, For whatever else you are, love, still your mother’s love you be.
You'll notice I made some changes: I wasn't sure of this line: That sails across the wind’s soft skies (?) that creep the casement through Any thoughts? -Joe- |
