Seattle Coffeehouse Live! - A Virtual CD

The Pacific Northwest Follklore Society introduces a new (free) CD
Seattle Coffeehouse Live!

In March, 2008, the Pacific NW Folklore Society began a monthly series of Coffeehouse Concerts. These concerts were recorded and selections from these recordings are now available on a CD.

In thinking about this project, we debated whether or not to make an actual CD. Then it dawned on us - why not a virtual CD, available for free to listen to and download from the internet? Instead of spending lots of $$$ for an actual CD and then waiting a year or two to pay itself off, why not just skip the production cost and give it away free on the web? Since we're really not interested in making any money off of it, that would be the best way to get it out. Of course if people like what they hear, they can always make a donation to the PNWFS - the same principle as busking.

So here it is, free to listen to and download as you wish. Included are selections by Ginny Reilly, Alice Stuart, Down the Road, JW McClure, the Smalltime String Band, Squirrel Butter, Jerry Middaugh & Orville Murphy, Eliza Manoff, Kim Ruehl, Val & Mike James, Michael Guthrie, Sarah Comer, the Canote Brothers, Dan Carollo, Jillian Graham, Hank Payne & Claire Favro, and Carolyn Cruso. That's quite a lineup! - a cross section of our best local musical talent.

Enjoy,

Cheers, S. in Seattle

any other feedback?

what do you think of this idea of CD release?
just skip the production cost and just get it out
the busking principle - if you like it, donate whatever you think it's worth (or what you can afford)

if someone stops and listens, it's a success
if they download, that's even better
and if they donate, it's an even further addition

what do you think?

Listening to it now. What a lovely opportunity to eavesdrop on a unique sub-culture in another country. Most taken, thanks :)

A flickr account of photos to accompany (or some other host) would also be great.
